Three Nevada Boxers Advance to Nationals

Jeremy Catalano still has not fought a complete fight. But he’s getting his work done quickly.

The Nevada junior overwhelmed Joe Silvio of the Air Force Academy in a 156-pound bout. A devastating right uppercut from Catalano ended their fight at the 1-minute, 59-second mark in the first round.
Their fight was one of 12 Friday in the semifinals of the Western Regional Boxing Championship at the Eldorado Hotel-Casino Convention Center.

Catalano, who also won by a first-round stoppage in Thursday’s quarterfinals, advanced to tonight’s finals. He will face Washington’s Sam Francal, who took an energetic victory over Andrew Vasilj of Cal-Berkeley.
All the winners and runners-up tonight advance to the College Boxing National Championships held April 7-9 at West Point in New York.

In addition to Catalano, Nevada will have Andrew Morales and Dylan Crosby boxing tonight and going to nationals.
