The 76th Annual KC Golden Gloves has a record number of entries.
This year’s tournament will be held on April 14th, 15th and 16th at the Truman Memorial Building, located at 416 W Maple St, Independence Mo.
Turner Golden Gloves Boxing Club leads the clubs in entries for the KC Golden Gloves Tournament. Turner won the team trophy in both open and novice division in 2010 and is hoping for a repeat in 2011.
Turner Boxing Club Gem and two-time defending National Golden Glove Champion and number 1 ranked Super Heavyweight in the country, Cam Thompson, will be defending his title in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Trials. Not only is Cam good enough to make the United States Olympic team, for 2012 in London, but he also has a solid chance to walk away with a medal.
Another Kansas City boxer who hopes to contend for a National Golden Gloves title is Edgar Javalera. Edgar represents the Turner Boxing Club and will be boxing at 132 pounds. Edgar fought in last years Golden Gloves and surprised many with his skill level at such a young age of 17 years when he made it to the quarter finals of the National Golden Gloves Tournament.
