Three Nevada Boxers Advance at 2014 NCBA Nationals

Jarred Santos won his semifinal bout at 132 pounds to advance to tonight’s championship at the 2014 National Collegiate Boxing Association championship at West Point, N.Y.

Santos took a decision over Jonathan Shepard of the U.S. Naval Academy. Santos will face Jeramias Ortiz of the U.s. Military Academy tonight.

At 139 pounds, Nevada’s JJ Mariano defeated Danny O’Neil of the U.S. Naval Academy. Mariano will face Jacob Berggren of Air Force tonight.

At 185 pounds, Nevada’s Garrett Felling defeated Anthonuy Alexander of the U.S. Naval Academy. He will box Jacob Conley of the Military Academy tonight.

In the quarterfinals on Thursday, Nevada’s Eden Bradford lost by technical knockout to Naval Academy boxer Andre Morehead at 147 pounds. At 156 pounds, Nevada boxer Jonathan Aguilar lost a decision to West Point’s Shawn Gray.

Also Thursday, Felling defeated Air Force Academy boxer Gytenis Borusas.
